With Faith In Every Footstep
Along The Mission Road

С Верой В Каждый Шаг На Дороге Миссии

August 22, 2008

There comes a time in some people's lives when the fruits of their labors finally blossom, ripen, and may be picked. A fruit has grown on my tree of life and I am ready to partake of it, to taste its sweetness. This fruit is known as "serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints".

On Thursday, August 21st, 2008, an envelope containing the call to where I will be spending my next two years in the service of the Lord and my fellow men was placed in my mailbox. My entire being was filled with joy when I received the news that my call had arrived. I would like to share this joy with all of you as I open the envelope.

I will be opening it and revealing its goodness sometime in the afternoon/evening of SUNDAY, AUGUST 24th, 2008. The specific time will be announced asap.

For those of you interested in attending, message me and I will give you further information (such as my address).

For those of you interested in knowing where I will be serving but don't necessarily feel the need to honor us all with your presence, I will be posting the mission call here once I know.

For those of you interested in receiving some kind of award, post your guess as to where I will be serving on this wall and the closest will possibly receive something very nice.

For those of you interested in learning more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the "Mormons"), simply look for the Elders in white shirts and black name tags and let them know. Or just tell me and I'll find someone to share the Gospel with you. :)

I love you all.

Parker

How does pouch mail work?

The Church offers a free mail delivery service called "pouch mail" for letters to missionaries serving in countries where regular mail services are not reliable. Each week, they send one box of letters to each pouch mission office, with aims for more successful, timely letter delivery.

Pouch mail is sent out every Monday, but letters must be submitted by noon the previous Thursday to get into the Monday batch.

Ukraine Donetsk Mission is a necessary part of the address for the Church to know which box of letters to put your letter in.

If you do it will be returned!!!

Also know that most packages that are sent mid-November through mid-January will be opened and have items stolen before they reach the mission office. This happens often at other times of the year but almost ALWAYS at this time of year.

If the Restoration were a statue, we, as members of this Church, know the view from the front very well,” Deere says. “But every once in a while, we come across a person or have an experience that causes us to take a step around the statue and view it from angles never before seen. And only then does it start to come to life. My desire for this project has always been for us to see these main characters of the Restoration without judgment, with all due respect, and with the utmost appreciation for their sacrifice and endurance. When I began to see them this way, I began to love them. This is our purpose. This is our testimony.

Mixing classical influences with sacred hymns, James Conlee brings new interpretations of beloved melodies from both worlds. At times he combines actual pieces as with 'Abide With Me / Pachelbel's Canon', 'I Often Go Walking / Claire De Lune', and 'Beautiful Savior / Sheep May Safely Graze'. At other times classical influences are heard more subtly in the arrangements and delivery. Born from a desire to hear the great composer's music live on in our sacred traditional hymns, James brings new light to music that has inspired people for hundreds of years.

Follow Your Brethren

Follow your brethren
Your wise and righteous brethren
It will help to strengthen
Your testimony of Christ

Follow-------------------
Your wise and righteous brethren
And you will come to know him
Your Brother, Jesus Christ
Your Brother, your Savior
Your Redeemer, Jesus Christ

....Beware of false prophets
....The trouble they can raise
....Stay in tune with the Spirit
....Do not be led away
....By false prophets
....By false prophets
....Like Korihor and Nehor
....On this continent of old
....Set themselves before the world
....And did not teach from gold
....Just fool's gold
....They were selling fool's gold

Sustain our righteous prophets
And our leaders down the line
These brethren called of God
To guide us in these times

Sustain them, yes, back them
In our every word and deed
Each voice can spread the gospel
Each one can plant a seed
Of truth, of truth and Light,
Of light and Hope,
Of hope and truth in the knowledge that God lives
God lives
God lives

Parker, aka Elder Smith, opening the envelope
containing the calling to serve as a missionary of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

With tears of joy he reads:

Dear Elder Smith:

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  You are assigned to labor in the Ukraine Donetsk Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months.

You should report to the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah on Wednesday, 5 November 2008.  You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Russian language.  Your mission president may modify your specific assignment according to the needs of the mission.

You have been recommended as one worthy to minister the restored gospel.  You will be an official representative of the church.  As such, you will be expected to maintain the highest standards of conduct and appearance by keeping the commandments, living mission rules, and following the counsel of your mission president

.

The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on 'donating a mammogram' for free (pink window in the middle).

This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors /advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.

In Memory of Cyd Marilyn (Campbell) Carr-Smith - The mother of our children Parker and Kristina and the mother of Justin and Dyan from a previous marriage who I love as my own, and in Memory of her mother Vicki (Larsen) Campbell - Two beautiful women, courageous Latter Day Saint women, who were dedicated to living a Christ centered life, dedicated to their families and teaching them correct principles, not only by words, but also by example. These women, these beautiful ladies, both lost their fight with cancer within a two and a half years of each other. Shortly after Vicki lost her battle with cancer, Cyd was diagnosed with this same dreadful disease. Both of them fought a valiant fight, with dignity and grace, to their very last mortal breath... But God is eternal, Life is eternal, Love is eternal. My life is better, having been blessed by having them in it. Thank you Cyd! Thank you mom!

From
THE PROVERBS
CHAPTER 31

A virtuous woman is priced above rubies.

10 ¶ Who can find a avirtuous bwoman? for her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely atrust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her ahands.
14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She ariseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the adistaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the apoor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her aclothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her aclothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of akindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of aidleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and abeauty is vain: but a woman that bfeareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

THE ARTICLES OF FAITH OF
THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS

History of the Church
Vol. 4, pp. 535—541

1 We abelieve in bGod, the Eternal Father, and in His cSon, Jesus Christ, and in the dHoly Ghost.

2 We believe that men will be apunished for their bown sins, and not for Adam’s ctransgression.

3 We believe that through the aAtonement of Christ, all bmankind may be csaved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

4 We believe that the first principles and aordinances of the Gospel are: first, bFaith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, cRepentance; third, dBaptism by eimmersion for the fremission of sins; fourth, Laying on of ghands for the hgift of the Holy Ghost.

5 We believe that a man must be acalled of God, by bprophecy, and by the laying on of chands by those who are in dauthority, to epreach the Gospel and administer in the fordinances thereof.

6 We believe in the same aorganization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, bprophets, cpastors, dteachers, eevangelists, and so forth.

7 We believe in the agift of btongues, cprophecy, drevelation, evisions, fhealing, ginterpretation of tongues, and so forth.

8 We believe the aBible to be the bword of God as far as it is translated ccorrectly; we also believe the dBook of Mormon to be the word of God.

9 We believe all that God has arevealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet breveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

10 We believe in the literal agathering of Israel and in the restoration of the bTen Tribes; that cZion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will dreign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be erenewed and receive its fparadisiacal gglory.

11 We claim the aprivilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the bdictates of our own cconscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them dworship how, where, or what they may.

12 We believe in being asubject to bkings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in cobeying, honoring, and sustaining the dlaw.

13 aWe believe in being bhonest, true, cchaste, dbenevolent, virtuous, and in doing egood to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we fhope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to gendure all things. If there is anything hvirtuous, ilovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
